Lithium-ion batteries power much of modern life, from tools and e-bikes to mobility aids, warehouse fleets and commercial equipment. Their high energy density and rechargeability make them indispensable.

But with this energy comes responsibility: ensuring these batteries are stored and charged safely.

When damaged, overcharged, or exposed to heat, lithium-ion batteries can enter thermal runaway, a self-sustaining reaction that can cause fire, smoke, or even an explosion. Once ignited, these fires are extremely difficult to extinguish and can endanger both people and property.
